The find is considered the-most important remains discovered so far due to the importance of its builder, King Nub-Khbar-Ra, one of the latest kings of the 17th Dynasty (1650-1550 BC) and the first one who led the liberation war against the Hyksos in Egypt. Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni said in a press conference Thursday that King Nub is the grandfather of King Saknen-Ra, who was killed in the battles against the Hyksos, and the great grandfather of Ahmose, the liberation hero who flushed the Hyksos out of Egypt. Gaballah Ali Gaballah, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA), said this is the first time a pyramid is discovered in Luxor, or for the 17th Dynasty. The era of the pyramids is known to begin from the 3rd Dynasty until the 6th Dynasty and was confined to Menf, capital of the old Kingdom, he said. http://www.uk.sis.gov.eg/online/html4/o020721i.htm http://www.uk.sis.gov.eg/online/html4/o300621n.htm |
